  • Please Help With CPU Host

I can't get past 4GHz and someone suggested to lower the Clock Ratio to 7 then raise the host to 533 and the System Multiplier to 2.00D . Basically to see if the memory is the problem. Seemed reasonable to me. It wouldn't boot. That should have given me a CPU frequency of 3.73 and memory at 1066. Right now I'm stable at 4.009 and 1125. It seems that I raise the Host Frequency above 422 I have problems. I don't understand.

Try using next lower system multiplier with your current overclock. When you raise fsb u also raise memory speed. Your ram may be incapable of more than 1122.5MHz.

You are on 2.66D, change to 2.40B for 1012.8MHz ram speed. Then you will be able to raise fsb speed again.

I have tried that but it won't boot even if I lower the multiplier. I have tried 2.00D with a Host of 494.

Re: Please Help With CPU Host

I did not mean raise it to 494, or anywhere near that. You are trying to go too far too fast.

Only raise your fsb by a small amount. Jumping to 494 from 422 would require many other changes, and it is unlikely they will be exactly the same as anyone else's. I cant help with 494. Have not done high fsb overclock on this chip and I have a different motherboard too. 4.2 and beyond takes a lot more than getting to 4.0 You have got the easy overclock part just about over.

Maybe try 2.40B and 433 x 9.5, or be happy with what you have even.
I think that would be much easier than high fsb overclocking.

Thank you Salty. That brings up another question I have. Going to B vs D does that cause any problems? Does it slow the memory?
