    Another high-maintenance hand-holding job sorry mate :)

I've flashed to F9J and all went well, I'm ready to get back to my 4GHz overclock if you could look my current spec over please and advise?

You would like to get bakc to your 4 ghz overclock, best start may be to use the settings you previously had set and work ur way up or down from there. My guess is
191 X 21 BCLK gives you 4.011 Ghz , with an 8x mem multi you will be at 1528 mhz Ram clock, which is just below what they are spec'd at. I would not worry about that few mhz. Voltages and timings are on you. LSD can detail a bit more on this if he's around. Have fun !

      Thanks dbee

I remember that we can only overclock the (was) frontside bus and tamper :) with the multiplier

Which are the 191 X 21 BCLK settings please, are they shown in the shots?

        Re: Lsdmeasap please: overclocking help

The first CPU Z shot u posted shows the stock 133 blck and the 12x multi , which means EIST and C1E are enabled. Clocking to 4ghz + , you should disable these in the BIOS under advanced CPU features. In the main MIT page in BIOS, you will see where to enable BCLK control and manually change the multiplier to 20x. Disabling EIST and C1E will increase stability at such a overclock and keep the BLCK multiplier at its needed 21x and not fluctuate.

What CPU cooler are you using ?

Is this your first time working with the X58 ? If so then i will get more into detail on everything for you . There used to be some guides on the LAtest overclocking programs etc. page, dont see em now tho... there is a Gigabyte specific guide to overclocking the X58.

              Re: Lsdmeasap please: overclocking help

Hey WAZZZZAA ! Dude its rocking, Zero distortion as the onboard had and excellent presets . I love the interface. I actually have C1e disabled but do have a light faded "hiss" noise in the backround if the volume is 40 % . This is occasionally, as now i hear nothing. When it does do it , i just mute it . No big deal.

                Re: Lsdmeasap please: overclocking help

Apologies in advance dbee I am probably going to sound awkward (what's this what's that?) sorry and I don't mean to sound like that, I know a bit about the CPU but only enough to be dangerous :)

stock 133 blck and the 12x multi

Where is the 133 bclk please? I see the 12x multiplier

whats the xonar dx like?any sound interferance from c1e like with onboard sound?

Totally silent wazza. No it's really quiet after the Audigy2. I had the pay-to-play drivers and the drivers from Daniel_K. It's the Asus Xonar DX2, PCIe x1 tiny slot. But then again I don't know what the C1e is sorry! <BLUSH>

Is this your first time working with the X58 ? If so then i will get more into detail on everything for you . There used to be some guides on the LAtest overclocking programs etc. page, dont see em now tho... there is a Gigabyte specific guide to overclocking the X58.

I've had all the good ones from Abit and Asus but my beloved Asus let me down (USB ports hopeless) so I tried Gigabyte again when upgrading last time

I got it already overclocked from overclockers.co.uk dbee and never needed to overclock it so it's all fresh to me this one but I've overclocked everything always. It's got a good and weighty Zalman h/s bolted on and runs quite cool. I'm in electronics but the Dark Art of overclocking and motherboards, I ask the experts - rather than blow up a mobo :)

Yep thanks mate I've got the pdfs and manuals and stuff from Gigabyte, but I remembered this forum from ages ago how people are really helpful. And you still are - thanks!

Will crank it up tomorrow, fire extinguisher on standby :)

                    Try this for 4Ghz >>

I do need a link to your ram or the model # though! And just FYI, BIOS F9j is fulty and should be soon replaced. This fault will not affect you though because you are using 920 CPU. One of the issues may though, S3 is not working at certain overclocks so if you use this you will have to wait for the next beta to correct or go back to a older version.

                      Re: Lsdmeasap please: overclocking help

are you at 4ghz now? or have you lost the overclock profile that overclockers.uk put in?didnt it come on a usb stick with the pc?

I'm on stock clocks at the moment waz, no I have no OC profile in there and no USB stick came with the bundle, that would have been handy yes. I've got a dedicated small Corsair USB stick now for flashing BIOS

your ram or the model #

Hi LSD the bundle's 'guaranteed to get 4GHz overclock' (it did with no trouble) system RAM is- (my kit is in my sig now)

                      OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz

And just FYI, BIOS F9j is fulty and should be soon replaced

                      Aaagghh! :)

Ah thanks for those BSOD notes error codes, let's hope I won't need them - but anyway I'll get F7 on a USB stick on standby just in case, I think I can simply add F7 to the stick I'm using for flashing

Thanks for the BIOS settings I'll print them out- can I get a printout of BIOS settings somehow do you know please? It was easy to make a note of them from the DOS screen once but there's a few settings in there these days :)

                        Re: Lsdmeasap please: overclocking help

Ya I saw your memory specs mentioned, but I need the actual model name or the model # so I can look it up.

If you do not need S3 sleep for now, this BIOS F9j will be fine for you until a newer one is ready. No need to go backwards just yet.

Best way to print out the BIOS templates it to copy and paste them into notepad. Then just print on your printer, that is what you meant right?

Hey Evan, sorry i was out . I see the good folks here have got you going. Any good news on the OC ? You will see "enable BLCK control" on the main MIT page . Blck control will be grayed out until you do enable it, you will know it when you see it as it reads 133 at stock.

And yes, you will more than likely need those BSOD error codes when tweaking. EVERYONE does, unless your LSD of course :-)

Na, don't think I am special Dbee, I use those codes myself often as I am always pushing something harder than it should be, or testing this or that for someone.

But I do know what they are without having to check which is which though, and of course that only comes from seeing them so often

You can say that again dbee :) Thanks for helping out

Right away I must say lsd that your settings got me up to >4Ghz, running thedesktop for half an hour. Impressive thanks a million

My current settings below and below those, shots of the memory sticks ID, I can't see a known-to-me manufacturer's ID sorry. Below again are general shots of my suck-and-blow-cooling system

I'm not sure if I need to do any more while the rig is stable but any other tweaks you know will be appreciated and many thanks for getting me up at running up here at Dizzy Heights (my new winter retreat with the snow-caps)

My nose is bleeding btw, thanks :)
