  • Best available PC2-9600 for EP45-UD3P

I am about to do install a new motherboard(EP45-UD3P). I currently have 2GB of PC2-8500 of Cruicial Ballistic which I was not able to run stable at 1066MTS for the GA-P35-DS3L I had. I had to slow it down to 800MTS. I would have asked for help had I known about this forum last year. I hope these 2G will run at least 1066 for my new board. However, I want to get at least 4G for the new board if not 8G. This board supports DDR speed up to 1300MTS but seems like it's not available everywhere. The only thing I found is G.SKILL from newegg and I think it's PC2-9200. I read the memory compatibility list from Gigabyte site and I can't find any of those from the list. I read someone here was using the G.SKILL with this board and said stable. Anyone able to run stable at spec speed of 1200MTS or higher for memory? I am asking just the memory it self and not FSB. If the only memory I can get is PC2-8500, is there problem if I mix another brand say Kingston or G.skill with these 2G Cruicial Ballsitic?

    OS - Windows 7
    System -
    CPU: QX9770
    Board: GA-EP45-UD3P
    Case: Antec P183
    PSU: Ultra 800W
    GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 512MB

Yes, you can run 1066Mhz for sure on this board and P35. You can of course also run 1100-1200 if you set the right voltages and settings. I do not advise mixing modules at all, this will often not work period and will only lead to issues if you do get them to boot together. Stability is very hard to obtain doing so, and is never suggested.

If you need 4GB best to buy a new 2x2GB kit. If you do not need 8GB, I also suggest against that as it is often hard to get stable as well. You will not get 8GB running at 1066Mhz or above either, maybe for short benchmarks, ect but that would be all.

8500 / 1066Mhz would be plenty for you, any faster would only show improvements in benchmarks which you could easily use 1066 memory to do the same anyway. Best to get a new 1066Mhz 2x2GB kit if you are looking for 4GB, or buy another kit to match what you already have 2x1GB of.

Great. Thanks for the tip. I will do just that, no mixing.
