Hi. I'm new to building my own system, but I've looked through the threads here and been doing web research, as well as talking to resellers. As always, things are changing so fast that it's hard to know what is best right now. My question: If Iwant to have the highest performance system today, without overclocking, is it P4 or Athlon? My best guess at the moment is P4 with RD ram, although until recently the choice would have been Athlon. If you have an opinion, I'd like to hear it. Please also list the motherboard you would recommend for the system and why. Also interested in the same question WITH overclocking, but I feel I should get started without that extra complication. Thanks very much for any replies!

Thanks, Wiggo. I'd found one of those threads, but the 2nd added a lot of new insights. Hard to keep up with all of the different forums. Kinda fun to be new, though. . . lots of new things to learn. :)Comment
