    Win 7 randomly waking from sleep....

    Ok i dont think this is a gigabyte issue. but i know theres a lot of foot traffic in here so i wanted to ask.

    My computer keeps waking up from sleep mode randomly. it never did this back in my college house. I recently just brought it home for my winter break...and now it wont stay sleeping.

    I found out a way to look up what woke the computer by going into cmd prompt and typing "powercfg -lastwake" and it tells you what woke up the computer.

    This is the message i get.


    Its saying that windows media center is waking the computer up for a scheduled update...wtf?

    AHAH...wellllllllll sorry for the wasted thread. but i think i figured it out.

    Windows media center has a scheduled update time of 12:00am. so im gonna guess thats what did it. nvm all.

      I used to have a similar problem until i found this setting.
      Give it a try. It rules out any windows timers that might kick in.
      First go to control panel and then select the following

        Thanks i did that as well. Im gonna test the computer out tonight and see if it wakes up.

          There are a number of settings you can disable while in the W7 power settings, such as Keyboard/USB etc.

          Also, go in to Device Manager and for Network/Mouse/Keyboard untick "this device can wake the computer" in each item under the "Power Management" tab.
