hi, I've checked through some previous threads about this 'common problem' i have and still haven't figured out the problem.
This is my first time i've built a pc and it runs:
Mobo: GA-MA790X-UD3P https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...odid=MB-199-GI
Gfx: Nvidia GeForce 8800 gts
PSU: 800 Watt ATX12V
Ram: 2x 512mb
HD: 320GB
Processor: AM2 phenom quadcore
Anyway, I've purchased PSU after PSU thinking this was the problem. This mobo requires at least 500 watts. And the gfx card requires 400 watts. The unit boots up fine, however the cd-rom drive won't open and the monitor will not flick onto the boot screen. Its on but goes into stand-by mode.
I've downgraded the gfx card to a low power consuming one and still the same result. I've checked loose wires dozens of times, started the pc with minimal components connected etc, no change. The monitor is not the issue.. connected it to a laptop and its perfect.
Is it possible the new mobo is faulty? (overclockers product)
