• GA-MA78GM-S2H wireless PCI card IRQ=>NA=>dead?

Hi all,

I hope you can help me with a problem, which has been driving me mad for the last week. A few days ago, I decided to do a BIOS upgrade on my GA-MA78GM-S2H rev 1.1 (seemed a good idea at the time), and my wireless card disappeared! During the boot process, the card is listed, however its IRQ is shown as NA, and the SSID/SVID values are at 0000. The card is not seen (nor usable) from Windows or Linux. I have tried everything I can think of to get it back to a working state: reverting back to the old BIOS, CMOS reset, taking out the battery...nothing! I cannot even assign it an IRQ from the BIOS PnP/PCI section, although the device is show there.

Any advice and suggestions would be very, very welcome!

best regards,
boza

PS. I checked the card in another PC and it works there...

Have you tried using a different PCI slot?
Can you select a different IRQ on your PCI card using a jumper block or switch?
Do you know if your wireless PCI card can share IRQs?
Does windows MSINFO show any IRQ conflicts?

Re: GA-MA78GM-S2H wireless PCI card IRQ=>NA=>dead?

Hi,
the mainboard only has two PCI slots, I tried both of them - no difference. Unfortunately, there are no physical jumpers which i can configure. I also tried disabling most onboard components (network, USB2, Com ports). I am not sure if the card can share IRQs - however it was working before, therefore I think that shouldn't be the problem. The card doesn't even show up in MSINFO so no conflicts are shown.

Is there any way to reset the PnP configuration data? Or any other ideas?

regards,
boza

Re: GA-MA78GM-S2H wireless PCI card IRQ=>NA=>dead?

Just in case someone is interested: I was somehow able to revive the card using the following steps:

take power cable out
take PCI card out
put power cable back in
start PC
shutdown PC
take power cable out
put PCI card back in
put power cable back in

it's more voodoo than an fix - but its working sofar.

Do you know if the card was assigned a new or different IRQ or SSID/SVID value?

ok man first of all do hard reset for cmos then uninstall wlan driver from safe mode and try agian or put the wlan on another computer and then try
you dont have to assisgn an irq where are in 2010 not the isa era so at these days all the motherboards and pci cards are signed automatically no need to jumper or configure irq just plug it and install new driver (use driver sweeper to remove all driver and then install the latest ) try to revert bios version (i dont advice to update bios without a reason or mybe you screwed you mobo with this update

Re: GA-MA78GM-S2H wireless PCI card IRQ=>NA=>dead?

It's possible that the OP is using an older PCI card that might have to be jumpered or configured.
Without knowing the brand/model of his hardware, we don't know for sure.
In some cases, the driver/software has to installed before the hardware is physically installed.
