  • Quad core or new graphic card?

I'm debating whether on getting a quad core processor or a new graphic card for gaming and other reasons.

Would getting Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 Yorkfield 2.5GHz 4MB L2 Cache be a better choice then Radeon HD 5770?

    I currently have a Intel Core 2 Duo 8400 overclock to 3.6GHz and Radeon HD 4850 512MB

    wow!
I guess you dont have to buy anymore its already great!
anyways, what will be your game?
if you really like gaming then VC is the logical choice. :)

Quad from dual..... would depend on the games you play....... me, I notice that having a quad is better, not only for some gaming but from day to day use. I use a 6850 dual and a q9550... the 6850 bums me out sometimes. You on the other hand may not need to do 6-10 things at once therefore it might not do you any good.... Some games need an extra core or two. At this point I wouldn't uprade my processor until I can upgrade my whole system.

Depending on your gaming resolution and settings........
... the video card. I would, without a doubt, upgrade my graphics card. Going to a 5770 would be a waste of money IMO for the minimal gains you might get. A 5850/GTX260-275 w-1792 memory would be "upgrades" over the 4850............ very good place to start. You'll see improvements right away.

My opinion is the 5770 will do you the most good seeing that most games don't use 4 cores anyway.

I dunno, I'm a nVidia fan (ati...lol!) and I have a quad core (which I love!) I don't understand why games aren't using the extra cores...BUT, when I play emulators, Lego Batman, whatever, all my cores are moving (Windows 7 32) so, I dunno...

Don't know much about ATI anymore, but if you are leaning towards the video card go nVidia!

Nice OC by the way...still trying to get more out of this Q6700.

I have a Q9550 and every game I play utilizes all cores. But its your graphic card that does most of the work,so get the card if you have the money...
