• BIOS Upgrade Flashing & RAID1 ?

I have an EP45 UD3P running the OS on RAID1 array on the Intel SATA jacks.

If I were to upgrade the the latest BIOS how will having RAID1 play into the mix?

You will Simply need to reset the settings in your BIOS to RAID and maybe in the Intel RAID manager thing Ctrl + I or whatever it is. Its pretty painless.

Re: BIOS Upgrade Flashing & RAID1 ?

Hi, And Thanks For Getting Back,

If I may ask you for some clarification.....

I have two tasks at hand. I want to upgrade my BIOS and I have just had one of my RAID1 disks fail in between my post and your reply.

If I update my BIOS and miss the initial boot screen into the setup and enable the ARRAY will I loose my Array and data? I did something like this before and lost it.

I need a we-bit of direction. What would you do?

I have never replaced a bad drive before. If I just swap it out with an identical drive will it auto rebuild the ARRAY?

Any comments, direction or links would be great.

Re: BIOS Upgrade Flashing & RAID1 ?

Check out steps 1 - 5 in the BIOS Flashing - A "How To ~ Qflash Guide" thread.
The information you want is near the end of the first post, just above the section:
Making a Bootable USB Flash Drive

I'll defer to the forum's experienced RAID users, but I think it's safe to say that you should perform your flash AFTER you have repaired the array.

Re: BIOS Upgrade Flashing & RAID1 ?

Why can't you build your Raid array, then update your bios? Also +1 on the guide on bios flashing. I followed it for my first flash.
