  • Easy Tune 5 vs CPUZ

Hello! Been having this baffling problem for several months already. When I OC my G31M-S2C from the BIOS, Easy Tune 5 identifies my speed at 4.1Ghz while CPU-Z sets it at 3.51Ghz.

    How can this be?

Do you have C1E and EIST Disabled in the BIOS?

Can you show pics of EasyTune and CPU-z

I leave C1E and EIST enabled in my BIOS, Lds. Here are the print screens that I took last night.

Thanks, your first comment said it all.

You have EIST and C1E (Speedstep) enabled, so the system will downclock when it is idle, you can disregard what anything else shows you.

If you want your CPU to run at full speed of your overclock always you need to disable speedstep in the BIOS (Disable C1E and EIST)

Thanks for the clarification, Lsd! I just wish Gigabyte's Easy Pro 5 is as accurate as CPUZ...

Did you try easytune 6? It may not work for your board, just wondering.

Ya, not sure why easytune 5 shows you 4Ghz, it clearly says 10.5x335 same as everything else. And while I say that, it's also odd that CPU-z/everest shows you at 3.5 (your overclock) while you have speedstep enabled, it should be downclocked unless you have it under load?

              Crazy! :)

Re: Easy Tune 5 vs CPUZ

EasyTune 6 is kinda snobbish, won't install on my "old" mobo :(

I run IntelBurnTest so that CPUZ and Everest will show 3.5Ghz when I did a PrtSc. :)

Ohh ok, about your 3.5Ghz, made me wonder!

Ya, Easytune 6 is like that! Just wasn't sure which older boards it didn't work for so I thought I would ask

EasyTune 6 works with G31M-ES2C boards, I think. Mine's without E (Energy Saver).

Ahh, yes the did revise the boards to E when EasyTune 6 came out

                        Got another question, Lsd!

Why do you think I see reds on my CPU Usage? Something to so with my OC, perhaps?

What do you mean "Reds on CPU usage"?

The red and orange lines on the CPU Usage and CPU Usage History graphs? Do they mean anything, you think?

                              Ohh I see image now.

That is CPU Kernal usage times, you can disable the red via the view menu uncheck "Show Kernal Times"
