  • Settings for 3.8GHz overclock: i7-920, Gigabyte EX58-UD5 with latest F12 BIOS

    Soooo glad I updated my BIOS from F9 to F12 seems a more stable OC. Anyway below are the settings that worked for me using the standard TT template. The OC was stable as judged by 2 hours running Prime95 (max CPU temp 60C) and 1h running memtest86+, idle CPU temp 38C

    CPU: Intel Core i7 920 D0 stepping
    BIOS: F12
    Motherboard: Gigabyte EX58-UD5 v1.0
    RAM: 6G (3x 2GB) OCZ PC3 16000 DDR3 memory 7-8-7-20-2T at 1.65V

      Hi i used your settings and Achive the 3.8 but its Inestable
      the only difference between your computer and mine is the
      memory mine has 12GB Ram 8-8-8-24 What do you think
      i should tweak to make it stable ??

      I used this other guide
      RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
      and achive 4.0 Stable but i cannot change my memory to 1600 Any ideas ?

      Thanks for your help in advance.

        When you say you used LSD's settings which settings would that be.. Post back with your current settings that are not stable and we can help you with them.

        When you say those settings are not stable.... How so???? did you get BSOD failed Prime95 after XX amount of hours on (this test) or failed LinX max memory on the (x number run)

        12gb will require more QPI/VTT voltage.

        If you get BSOD check the error codes in my sig will help you know which voltage to change.

            Re: Settings for 3.8GHz overclock: i7-920, Gigabyte EX58-UD5 with latest F12 BIOS

            Hi

            I used HowardB settings and the system was inestable
            so I reset the BIOS to default and applied the settings again
            seems to be more stable now... only tried for an hour
            bellow are the pictures...

            What I want to achive is to reach at least 4.0 or 4.2 Ghz (SAFE)

            I have an i7 D0 Water Cooling with a Corsair H50
            in an Antec P183 Case with 12 Gb Ram Corsair 8-8-8-24
            one PCI Express Video Card Nvidia 9800 GT

            So i tried this guide:
            RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
            And it worked at 4Ghz but the Ram was only in 6x
            when i change to 8x for 16000 it wont boot

            Let me know what is the safest way to go to 4.2
            without frying the chip :P

            Thanks in advance for your help and sorry if my english its
            not that good its not my first lenguage.

              try around 1.25v cpu voltage and 1.35 qpi/vtt voltage for 4.2ghz,if it fails add more qpi/vtt voltage a little at a timeupto 1.4v

                Hi wazza300

                Tried with your templates but i cannot manage to be stable with 4.2
                Tried with different QPI here are the results

                1260 = Computer Restart No Blue Screen
                1280 = Blue Screen Error 124
                1300 = Blue Screen Error 124
                1320 = Blue Screen Error 124
                1340 = Computer Restarted No Blue Screen
                1360 = Computer Restarted No Blue Screen
                1380 = Windows Freezes In Logo

                All of the these results are 2 o 3 seconds after running prime95.

                If i change the DRAM to 1.6 Sometimes i got Blue screens
                with errors:

                -0003B
                -000D1
                -000FC
                -0001E

                All with different QPI Values......

                Do you have any advice to make my machine stable ?

                Thanks in advance.

                  you will need more with 12gb,maybe 1.4v for qpi/vtt start from 1.3000v for cpu voltage, you will need to keep testing and adjusting, dont use dvid just leave on normal

                            Hello, Howard8.

                            Can you confirm that both your CPU Clock Drive and PCIE Clock Drive are NOT 700mV? This means you forgot to load optimized after flashing, I believe. This could be a problem.
