After finishing my latest i7 build and getting into the process of making the appropriate adjusments, I decided to run the latest version of CPUID Monitor on both machines. The results really baffled me as there were huge discrepancies in some voltages and in particular what seems to be power consumption in amps and watts. Now, I'm afraid to use the new machine until I get this figured out, so if anyone can help me asap, I'd really appreciate it as I need to get this figured out by tomorrow A.M.
Machine 1 (Studio):
GA-EX58-UD4P
i7 920 C0 Stepping
12 Gig OCZ gold
Corsair HX-650 PSU
CoolerMaster V8
Machine 2 (Trader):
GA-X58A-UD5
i7 930 D0 Stepping
12 Gig Muskin Redline
Corsair HX-750 PSU
Cool IT ECO A.L.C. liquid CPU cooler
When the images below were made, the 920 ("STUDIO") was still set at the stable 3.6 setting I've been using for awhile now.
The images for the 930 ("TRADER") were made AFTER I'd just cleared the CMOS and loaded the optimized settings in the BIOS.
Now, In particular, note the differences between the amperage and wattage listing under "Gigabyte DES" for both, as well as the temperature differences.
The first set are both machines at idle.
The next set are both machines at full load Prime 95. Note the extremely high Currents and Powers readings for the new "TRADER" machine.
Can anyone please help me understand what might be going on here? Is it a sensor problem or a PSU problem? I really don't want to have to start swapping components and trying to figure this out, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Vic
