  • 1600 Ram kit Post's as 1066

    Greetings all :)

New build here, having some voltage issue ATM, problem is that my 1600 ram shows up as 1066, from what i have seen this isnt uncommon. i will post my BIOS template below and my Sig contains my system setup, other than the fact that im running WIN7 64bit
Checked each stick by removing them all and rebooting with one at a time, all went well

If something seems amiss could you help me out please

for the time being theres no OCing going on, but any thing that could help with the voltage issue would be Great........Thanks

    "Responce From Gigabyte Support thread"

Please make a new thread with all your info here, so we can better keep track of this as we help.

Do you see a Red Warning box when you enter the MIT Section of the BIOS?

Can you please link us to your memory kit.

I see you are not setting your QPI/Vtt this may be the issue, and surely will be if you are seeing a red warning box.

I also see you have C1E and EIST enabled, Intel Speedstep, so your CPU and memory would be downclocked when idle so this may be the issue as well.

    Thanks for the reply

I created this new thread per your request.

    Yes i get a red Warning - http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-...ot%20Error.jpg

    Ram Kit Link - Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL8T-6GBRM

What should the QPI/Vtt Voltage be?
As far as the C1E and EIST goes, if i dont need it on thats fine with me

BTW, once this Ram is sorted i plan on throwing another 3 sticks in, what effect will that have

    Thanks

    Re: 1600 Ram kit Post's as 1066

theres nothing wrong with your sticks,1066 is the default speed that the mb sets the ram at,you need to enable spd, then set manual and raise the memory multiplier to give you 1600mhz or just under as the amount of bclk you set for example 133x12=1596,when you overclock by raising the bclk number it will affect the ram speed so you will need to lower ram multiplier to suite

for stock clocks try cpu voltage on normal setting in voltage list,qpi/vtt on 1.30000 c1e can be disabled, keep everything else on and then select balanced power saving profile in windows 7 power saving options

System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [12.0]<<< currently set at 12x this is what you raise lower to change the ram speed in mhz,it will be in even multi's like 8x 10x 12x 14x ect

Will give this a try, i believe i did something simular except for the QPI/Vtt i do think mine is set to default 1.175v ATM will set to 1.3000v and let her rip :)

      Will post back

      Thanks

        Set: QPI to [1.295v]
Set: CPU Enhanced Halt (CIE) [Disabled]
Set: System Memory Multiplier - [12]
        Set: DRAM Voltage - [1.60V]
You said to keep everything else on...............sorry not sure what everything else is ...............

Restarted a few time to see if it would error out, Sofar so good
        DDR3 1600Mhz on Post

A short list of what i have set below

        Code:

        CPU Clock Ratio - [21x]
QPI Link Speed - 4.8GHz (No Choice)
        Base Clock Control - [Enabled]
        BCLK Frequency - [133]
        Performance Enhance - [Standard]
        Extreme Memory Profile - [Disabled]
        System Memory Multiplier - [12]
        CPU Enhanced Halt [Disabled]
        QPI/Vtt [1.295v]
        DRAM Timing Selectable - [Expert]

        CAS Latency Time - 8
        tRCD - 8
        tRP - 8
        tRAS - 24

Enter these for the other three as well.

        Channel A Timing Settings
        Channel B Timing Settings
        Channel C Timing Settings

        Advanced Timings
        Command Rate - 2

        Advanced Voltage Control

        DRAM Voltage - [1.60V]
        Rest to AUTO
        Questions
1- Should i F12 Load CMOS from BIOS?
2- What is the QPI Clock Ratio for? What does Slow Mode do?

Do we have a good complete stock BIOS template
the one i posted here at the top of this thread is a semi complete BIOS Template for the X58A-UD3R rev2, but im not sure what the best stock settings should be

        Thanks for the help

          Re: 1600 Ram kit Post's as 1066

you can set qpi link speed to 36x,and your uncore freq will be twice what the ram multiplier is then add one to it,so for example 10x ram multi will be 21x uncore freq and so on,everything else can be left on auto or enabled in bios, just manually set you ram speed/multiplier/timings/voltages and set cpu and qpi/vtt voltages and you should be fine

load optimized defaults or clear cmos to get all stock settings back but it will wipe any bios settings that you have set yourself so make a note beforehand, every cpu/mb is different so it will use less or more cpu/qpi voltage when at stock settings,if your stable then no need to reset cmos

if you have stock intel cooler you can clock to 3.2ghz without changing anything from those settings i gave you apart from lowering the ram multiplier to give you 1600mhz or slightly less when you use higher bclk as it changes depending what bclk you set, remember to set uncore freq too following the 2x ram multi +1 rule
