  • Computer Wont Stay In SLEEP Mode-Gigabyte X58A-UD3R

I thought the sleep issues were ironed out (came from GA-EP45-UD3R) on current Gigabyte boards. My computer A.wont enter sleep mode automatically and B. wont stay in sleep mode if manually put there.

Does anyone know a remedy for this?

I did a board search for this issue, and the question is almost always asked...is ur OC stable? Yes my OC is Linx stable.

Are there settings in my Bios I have to enable?

Also if that does not fix it go into power options under balanced. Click change Advanced power settings, then scroll down till you see Multimedia settings. Click the "+" then also next to When sharing media. Set to Allow the computer to sleep when Plugged in.

That will also prevent windows from entering sleep even if your not sharing media.

using FA bios, where is the option "wake on lan" in bios? I disabled an option called "power on by ring", S3 is enabled...nothing has helped, it just shuts off and turns right back on.

Check the NIC power options. Make sure only administrative stations can wake it up (magic packet).

that really is not in my bios (wake on lan), it is not in the newest bios, i did disable pme event wake up...the issue still persists, it goes into sleep for a couple minutes then turns right back on...my old gigabyte ep45-ud3r did the same thing at a certain FSB...remember im running by bclk pretty high for 24/7 (currently set at 213), could a high bclk cause this???

                      NIC - Network adapter controller.
It's in the NIC properties in devide manager.
Try simply to disconnect the network cable first, if the problem still persists it may be something different.

Yeah I think u nailed it! I disconnected my ethernet cable and computer stayed in sleep both when manually set and when automatic. I unchecked the box in device manager..."allow this device to wake the computer" and Im assuming that will solve the problem, why would that be checked by default anyway.

Much Thanks and Appreciation to you Chike and the others who posted possible solutions!

Below that box there should be an option for magic packet/administrative station. Forcing magic packet should have solved it too.
It is enabled by default to make life of those who need wake-on-lan easier I guess.
