Finally had some time today to have a play and after once again seeing screen shots of crazy fsb with mental ram speeds i was hopeful that maybe the QX would be the key to "unlock" the magic from this board of mine. well i feel a little deflated now.
first screenie is a stock everything boot ( optimal bios loaded - lsdmeasap :) see some people do take note )
massive vdroop is obvious seeing as its set to 1.25vcore in the bios
next we have a rough and unstable as hell stab at 4ghz
this all led to a heroic attempt to get a 1600mhz plus ram speed setting to boot.....
no, no screenies for that lol lets just say i never thought i'd have to use system restore because i was overclocking :S.
i got a grip and tried in earnest to just get a IBT stable 3.5ghz with memory speed under the magic line, and i gotta say it was much harder than with the q9550. this qx9650 is constantly screaming for volts, bsod 124, so with much higher volts than i think i used on the q9550 i get the screenie i want.
points to notice.... temps of the higher volt unstable 4ghz and the stable 3.5ghz are almost the same.
i used ET6 purely to show the voltages.
my realtemp gadget and hardware monitor differ by 6 degs.
this feels slow and sluggish.
so to finish this post with some hope.. i see a F5M bios in the sticky :) lets see what it brings and heres hoping i can get a low temp, 24/7 @ 4ghz OC like i did with the Q9550.
opinions, suggestions, flames, general banter all welcome
