  • GA-P67A-UD5-B3 boot cycle issue

    Hi,

Got a replacement motherboard for the GA-P67A-UD5-B2 that I had purchased (it was recalled because of the SATA degrading issue). Installed the new B3, worked fine. For my birthday, I got one of the new Crucial 64GB M4 SSDs, which I'd put in and it all worked fine. I was using the computer as normal, put it down for a reboot and now it won't boot at all, not even into the BIOS, and it cycles like this. Motherboard lights up, fans spin for a second or so, then the whole machine clicks off again, and the lights switch to the pattern that you get when the computer is off. The computer then switches back on, motherboard lights up, fans spin, and switches off again. This continues for a long time.

I've removed ALL hardware from the motherboard excluding the CPU. This is the spec of the machine:

    CPU: Intel i7-2600k
    RAM: 2x8gb 1333MHz G-Skill Ripjaws
    MB: GA-P67-UD5
    HDD: 1x Seagate Momentus XD 500gb, 1x Crucial M4 64gb SSD
    GFX: Gigabyte GTX 460

All hardware has been working previously on the old MB - every single piece of hardware had been working on the new MB. I had overclocked it to 3.60GHz (for one boot) using the packaged software, but had decided I didn't want to risk damaging my setup and put it back down to the default values straight after.. Can anybody point me towards the problem? Thanks in advance.

Have you removed mb battery for 30mins and then put back and load optimized defaults if it gets to bios screen, you might need to leave out overnight and try, could you test with another psu? And test with another or test gpu in another pc?

Hey, thanks for the quick reply!

I tried all of your suggestions, but we isolated the problem down to the motherboard and/or the PSU. Tried the same motherboard with another PSU and it seemed to function fine. Ordered a 750W PSU for next day delivery, so should have that installed by tomorrow... think my components were just a bit too power hungry. Either way, my PSU appears to be gone.

      Thanks again. :)

glad you fixed it,components just fail,if psu is under warranty then rma it,and those systems don't use much juice anyway,if you want to oc then start a new thread, there's plenty who can advise, ocing using the software won't be as accurate regarding voltages/stability ect
