  • Slow HDD transfer rates

I have a 1TB WD Caviar Blue (SATA3) as my primary hard drive and have it connected to port SATA3_0. My DVD burner is connected to port SATA3_1, and my external hdd is simply connected via USB 2.0.

Anyway, I did some tests and my Blue drive is getting really low transfer rates. I should be getting +20mb/s and I'm only getting 5-8mb/s. Am I missing something here? Did I connect my drive wrong or miss a setting in the BIOS? Please help.

It would be much easier if you gave us the model of your motherboard.

        speed of usb hd?
what kind of tests are you doing?

if you don't provide additional info, how can we help you?

          Motherboard: Asrock Z68 Extreme4

          WD Blue info (WD10EALX):
          Untitled Page
          7200 rpm, SATA3

The only difference between this drive and a lower-end Caviar Black is about $20 less and a 3yr warranty instead of 5yr.

Tests were done only on the WD drive within itself (PCMark, HDTune).

Try it again. I even logged out and it still shows up fine. They might have had a temporary server issue.

Sorry, I cannot understand what "System storage - importing pictures" mean! Does it test all (including usb) drives and show average? Can you also test with oher programs e.g "sisoft sandra" and compare results?
