  • HELP needed with audio on motherboard

I bought a new Gigabyte motherboard GA-H67M-D2-B3 that seems to have a audio problem. When I use my music software on it I get a slight delay. That delay is driving me crazy. The software is a multi-track mixer that creates several tracks. On track #1 I can play the drums, then when I come back to start a new track on track #2, I get a delay that keeps me from being able to stay in time with the drums. Is there a setting somewhere that is causing this? I tried another version of the same type of software from another company and theirs did the same thing.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure it's the board and not the software?

Like I said in my earlier statement, I tried different companies software and had the same problem. I even called the company and they walked me thru several steps for over an hour. They came to the conclusion that it's the audio on the motherboard not being compatible with Windows 7.

Make sure HPET Support enabled and the mode that matches your OS.
Also try to enable/disable enhancements on playback/recording devices in Win 7 sound properties.

If you experience delays, skips, pops, crackle and other problems when editing audio/video, the first thing I'd check is DPC Latency.

Grab this free tool and see what it's peaking at: Tools - Free Download The lower the better. Problems can start to occur with audio streaming/editing at over 500us.

Common causes of high latency can include misbehaving device drivers. It is also common for certain device types to cause this issue. Common trouble makers include network/NIC, PCI modems, onboard sound, TV tuners, RAID cards and even Graphics cards.

Some recent nVidia cards in particular have been sited as a cause of particularly high DPC latency.
