  • Problem with ga-p55a-ud5?

I'm inexperienced with motherboard faults but after 2 years of reliable operation my computer shuts down after about 3 mins of operation and then proceeds to go through a reboot/restartvthat lasts for 2-3 seconds before repeating th process over and over.If I completely power down for about 10 mins, I can get another 2 to 3 mins continuous operation.Any suggestions on where to start fault finding?

First thing check cpu temperatures with Core Temp or RealTemp, or run HWMonitor(CPUID) to see temps and if all fans are working.

The system is in a reboot loop. I can't get anything up on screen as system only powers for a second or two

You said you can get 2-3 minutes that should be enough if you have the programs on a USB drive.

Sounds like the system is overheating. Have you looked to make sure you dont have a fan that went bad? Also have you looked in the bios to see what the temps are?

for the boot loop. First try removing the power cord from the back of the psu. Press and hold the power button on the front of the case for 1-2 min. Then reconnect the power cord and try. If that does not work try the same but before powering on try clearing the cmos either with a jumper or with clear cmos button.

It's certainly not overheating. It's not running for long enough to generate any heat. Removed power and battery for a couple of mins before restoring and rebooting, without luck. Reset CMOS -no luck there either.
