  • New System: Problems (Need Good Troubleshooters) X58A-UD5 Rev 2

    Hello, all...

I could use a little help, and I'll try to make this concise:

    - built new rig with following components:
    Gigabyte X58A-UD5 (rev 2)
    6GB Corsair Dominator (CMP6GX3M3A1600C8)
    Corsair HX850
    i7 950
WD VelociRaptor 300GB (no OS yet)
Antec Kuhler 920 (plugged into mobo CPU fan)

GTX 580 (from other system, works fine)

    - system just starts and runs but get nothing but a black screen
    - no power to USB keyboard or mouse
    - no idea what BIOS version because no video
    - code C1 on mobo, which is for RAM, either incompatible etc. but using compatible RAM and have tested every stick in two different slots (testing with single sticks in both DIMM 3_1 and 3_3)

Every stick of the Dominator cant be bad, so I'm thinking this board is being picky.

If it were one of the DIMMs, I'd know because I tested all sticks twice in two different slots.

However, assuming I'm not getting any video because something is up with the RAM so it's not posting?

Is it just not recognizing the RAM?

Have no other RAM to test with right now (new XMS3 coming tomorrow), and not sure what to get. Want to stick with Corsair Dominator, as well as stick with running 1600, but running out of options. Another model is out of stock at EGG, and while the XMS3 is great, from past experience, but people seem to be getting a lot of bad sticks recently it seems. Trying it tomorrow anyway.

Still no power to keyboard, even when unplugging mouse.

Tested with another GPU (GTX 280) still no video, still same mobo error code, though I don't always trust the codes.

Need to push everything I can before return policy is up, because don't want to deal with manufacturers, would rather return to vendor if need be.

    Help? Advice?

    Thanks!

    P.S.
I'm trying a prolonged CMOS clear right now; removed the battery to totally clear CMOS for at least 30min and will see what happens, but I'm not thinking it's going to work.

Are you testing each stick in the WHITE slots only? Test each stick one by one in each white slit one by one,it will boot into BIOS from a single stick in any white slot if alls well

If still c1 error then carefully inspect CPU socket for any bent pins as it will cause non post

The CMOS reset worked and the system is now loading but the keyboard and mouse are not working even though they are in the BIOS.
Windows is loading from disc fine, however the keyboard and mouse won't work.

Running BIOS Fc and Legacy is enabled in the BIOS for the keyboard and mouse.

Any input to get the keyboard and mouse working?

So you enabled Usb mouse and Usb keyboard in the BIOS? If its not working in windows but works in BIOS it has to be windows driver problem? You have ps2 keyboard/mouse to try? Usb legacy is for Usb thumb drives
