    Hi all

If I enable the Marvell SATA controller and set it to "RAID" (problem only happens when Marvell is set to RAID, not IDE or AHCI) it disables the INTEL RAID array I have set up and working fine on the Intel controller from booting. The only thing that shows up in the BIOS boot preference is the Marvell RAID set. During the POST both the Intel & Marvell RAID BIOS show up, I can go in to either BIOS (ctrl I or ctrl M) and see that everything is correct but the only choice to boot from is the Marvel RAID set when I go in to the mb BIOS.

When i enable Marvel Raid and after i press f10 to save bios seetings and boot i got this warning (Foto )

Have you tried to update the bios? If you did; did you keep dmi data pool? Try updating the bios the latest version for your board make sure you do not keep dmi pool data when flashing. After successfull flash or reflash try to force marvel firmware update from the bios.

I have flash it to latest firmware F6D and i always reset the dmi pool data.
How should i force marvel firmware update from the bios?

When the marvel raid is enabled in bios post after the raid array shows i get a Warning post and say something like "Option ROM can not be invoke"

Re: GA-Z68X-UD3P-B3 and Onboard Raid Controllers

Did you load optimized defaults right after flash on first boot?

fir the marvel firmware it would be under the option to enable or disable the controller is self. Your board might not have the option. If it did you could switch between auto/force/disabled. Setting to force will update the marvel controllers firmware to match that of the bios.

You may want to open up a support ticket with gigabyte and tell them exactly the problem you are having with all these images and ask them to pass it along to the bios engineers to look at. Please be clear on exactly how you have everything setup along with the hardware you are using so they can try to duplicate the problem.

One last thing you could try doing is clearing the cmos. Either via jumper on by button if your board has a button. You can try from 1-2 min 5-15 min or up to 24 hrs and see if that helps. Make sure to load optimized defaults after clearing cmos.

I have load optimized defaults Before i flash the bios and After i flash it.
There is no option for firmware update inside bios settings for Marvel controler.

How about if you flash back to F5 BIOS? still the same? Have you tried go to BIOS menu > Advance features > Boot Priority, select the Intel RAID array to be the first boot device?

The promblem is on both F5 and F6D bios.
When i enable the Marvel raid and go BIOS menu > Advance features > Boot Priority , there is NO Intel Raid array , its only the Marvel array.

Thank you all for your time and suggestions

                  Responce from GigaByte support:

Thank you again for your kindly information, after confirming, this is hardware limitation of Intel and Marvell RAID. Since the shadow ram size is limited, we would suggest you choose either Intel onboard or Marvell onbard RAID but not at same time. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

                  Regards,
                  GIGABYTE

That cant be correct unless this is something with Z68 chipset. Maybe Lsdmeasap can comment on this or someone else.

I have heard from my friend that he has the same problem on another GA-Z68X-UD4 and it resolved by updat to F7D BIOS (he obtained from Gigabyte technical support), now both Marvel and Intel RAID can be enabled at same time on his mobo .
i think you can try the latest version F6 BIOS on your mobo.

The technical support of Gigabyte has replied:
This is BIOS limitation. Too many option ROMs execute during POST may cause certain option ROM not working properly.

I think maybe you can ask Gigabyte for a special BIOS to remove this limitation.

It's a BIOS limitation, and I doubt they fixed it for your friend on UD4 either.

X58A-OC has a similar problem, and how I get around it is to set Intel to RAID and Marvell to AHCI, then in windows build a RAID array on the Marvell controller using the web tools, both work fine that way.

I don't have this board, but I do have UD3H which has the same chips, so I'll do some testing on this for you this weekend if I get time and see if you can do the same as I do on the OC board (Which I'm sure you can)
