  • Z68 Extreme 4 + Asus 6870 DirectCu No Display using Bios 1.50

I'm not able to get the Asus 6870 display to output for this board. I've tried disabling the onboard video by disabling both Render Standby and IGD Multi-Monitor in the BIOS and setting Primary Graphics Adaptor to PCI Express.

Even with this setting, the only output I can get to display is through the onboard DVI output.

    Am I missing something?

    Dear imaginasian,

Please kindly refer to below suggestions for testing.
    1. Load BIOS default settings.
    2. Use eraser to clean the golden finger of VGA card to try.
    3. Install the VGA card to other PCI-E slots to try.
    4. If possible, please kindly install other VGA card to check whether the symptom still occur.

If the problem still cannot be solved, please kindly contact your local dealer for help.
    Thanks!

    Have a nice day

      hi emily -

thanks for the suggestion. i verified the Asus card works in another machine and have tried resetting CMOS and various BIOS versions from 1.4 - 1.70. oddly, the Asus card was working fine with the Asrock motherboard until the other day when the machine locked up. since then, then I can't get the video to output through any of the PCIe slots. i guess its a bad motherboard.

do i contact Newegg or your tech support team directly for an RMA?
