I have 2x2 (4G) kit of OCZ Reaper series RAM. It's PC2-9200/1150Mhz. I have the option to swap out to 2 - 2x2 (total 8G) OCZ Vista Upgrade DDR2 PC2-6400/800Mhz. Both have the timings of CL 5-6-6-18 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS). The Reaper series has voltage of 2.1 and the Vista series is 1.8v. I have the mb set to 1066 and I know I'll have to drop to 800mhz with the Vista kits.
Since I'm not doing gaming do you think this is any real loss in performance? I'm running Win7 Pro 64bit with the Intel E8400. It's current clocking at 3.83Ghz but I'm concerned that I will not be able to maintain this speed with the CPU by swapping the memory. I'll get 4G n capacity which may help a little and the swap will not cost me anything. Possibly more stable (things seem fine now) but feel I'm going to take a noticeable hit in performance.
Feedback would be great. Thanks!
