  • Which USB port are 3x Powered on x-58 ud7 ver1.0 ?

    Hi,

I can't find information in the manual, which USB ports are high powered as gigabyte feature on some mobos.
    Maybe all of them ?

Another question about it it can be harmful to sensitive USB devices, or on this matter it does not matter ?

    Thanks in advance,

Read this GIGABYTE ON/OFF Charge It shoudl be the front panel usb headers that support it. Make sure you have the latest bios installed + these drivers.

Dangers to other usb devices from extra power. Im not sure; I havent heard of any people having problems with older devices. But then again if you are still using a usb 1.0 or 1.1 device, you might have problems. I cant not say for sure.

      Re: Which USB port are 3x Powered on x-58 ud7 ver1.0 ?

The On/OFF Charge USB header will have a red backing (the part containing the "USB" label). It takes its power from the +5V Standby rail of the PSU, which is always powered, hence the reason that it can charge a device when the PC is shut down.

There will be no issues with a high current capable port and a device that does not require more than the USB 1/1.1/2 spec. Current is drawn by a device from a terminal, it isn't pushed to a device by the terminal, so the device will only draw as much current as it's capable of. A standard device won't draw more current and damage itself.
