  • Unable to overclock on Extreme 7 Gen3

I am running a 2600K on my Z68 Extreme7 Gen3, Bios Ver. is 1.3, RAM is 4X4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 C8 running at XMP mode [email protected], Graphic cards are HD6990+6970 CrossFire and one Force GT SSD+WD Black Cavier 1T
    PSU is SilverStone 1200W
The problem is it's not able to overclock my CPU at all, once I modified any settings in BIOS, I will get the Debug code 71 or F1 or 2F and keep rebooting.
I was able to overclock the same CPU on my previous Asus P8Z68 Deluxe to [email protected] and it's very stabe.

Did I make any wrong settings on Extreme7?
    My settings are as follows
    CPU Ration Setting------------------47
    Internal PLL Overvoltage------------Disabled
    Intel SpeedStep Technology--------Enabled
    Turbo Boost Power Limit------------Manual
    Short Duration Power Limit----------300
    Long Duration Power Limit-----------300
    Long Duration Maintained------------1
    Additional Turbo Voltage-------------Auto
    Core Current Limit-------------------150
    BCLK-------------------------------100
    Spread Spectrum-------------------Disabled
    Power Saving Mode-----------------Disabled
    CPU Core Voltage-------------------Fixed Mode @ 1.390V
    CPU Load-Line Calibration-----------Level 1

The rest settings remains auto by default.

Re: Unable to overclock on Extreme 7 Gen3

    Internal PLL Overvoltage -Enabled
    Core Current Limit -300
    Additional Turbo Voltage - +0,004V

Use offset instead of fixed voltage and LLC Level 4 or 3 max !

Go and check my settings on P67 Extreme4.

I just checked the Memory support list for Extreme7 Gen3, unfortunately my Corsair 8G kits are not in the supported list, will that be problem?

I'm new to use an Asrock mobo and I'm wondering what do "Core Current Limit" and LLC really do....

BTW, how to edit my own signature..?

if it's set to offset, what should the offset voltage be?

I've tried your settings, still no boot, got the Dr.Debug code of 2F and 71
what's worse, I restored the default UEFI settings, everything restored to default value, I can't even enter windows, keep BSOD; but the BSOD is just a...blink, i can't see the error code

Re: Unable to overclock on Extreme 7 Gen3

                    Hi,

I just set my extreme 7 gen 3 board up and had no problems so far, I just went into the bios oc section and enabled advance turbo 50 then loaded optimized cpu oc setting, I' running at 4.6gz at the moment ( under load ) and
                    prime 95 worked all good.

Remember the thing with I7 gen 2 chips you only should really need to touch the multiplier and voltage, that's it.

How high do you wish to clock your cpu?
