  • Need help overclock my Ep45-UD3L

    Hi, i have a stable q9400 overclocked @ 3.6 with memory @ 900mhz and performance level @ 10 (9 dont works)
Last nite i tried @3.8 with memory @ 950mhz but memory timmings on auto because peformance level freeze @ 11 (i i didn't tried 12), but the thing is this overclock dont get good results, its stable, but not good as i expected, i would like to know why, if its because the memory configs

    ps.

Can you post a screen capture of EasyTune -> Tuner -> Advanced -> Voltage tab, and also attach CPU-Z text report (CPU-Z -> About tab -> Save report (.TXT))
What CPU Cooler do you use? (please add to your signature)

I recommand you update BIOS to F9 (Improved memory compatibilities).
Do not flash with OC settings, use optimized defaults to flash. Use the built-in Q-Flash from a USB flash-drive.
Clear the "Keep DMI Data) before you flash.
Write down any saved BIOS profiles settings as saved profiles would not work with the new BIOS.

      i'm using stock voltages (defaul=normal) exept memory @ 1.84v
about flash the motherboard, i prefer not

Re: Need help overclock my Ep45-UD3L

All voltage settings are normal including vcore?

Set CPU Reference and MCH Reference to auto
Try MCH Core from 1.16v to 1.24v
Try increasing ram up to 1.9v

Ststic tRead 10 should work, try with CPU Ratio 7.5 first to make sure it is only memory/bus related issue than set to 8.

          @ 3.6, all on normal, @ 3.8 i incresead +0,2 to vcore,termination, mch, memory
what is max voltage for memory?

Please post your settings using the template from this post so we are more clear about your settings.

Memory has no problem with voltage up to 1.9v,

Re: Need help overclock my Ep45-UD3L

lets forget about 3.8 (not stable no more, and i realized is not too much gain)
i would like to know, what i have to do to make the memory work better or faster, what can i do to make this stable 3.6 get better, or there's nothing more to do.........

Re: Need help overclock my Ep45-UD3L

Reference voltages play huge role with P45 boards. I can't have my system stable without tweaking them at 450MHz bus clock.
My board can run (not completely stable) at 546MHz bus so you are pretty far from there.
But I need full settings to see what we can do.

like i said before, my oc @ 3.6 is default=normal
i want concentrate on memory, like "performance level" for example, i tried "9" and dont works,
what is more better (5-6-6-21 @900) or (5-5-5-18 @900), it is possible to do that?

Re: Need help overclock my Ep45-UD3L

5-5-5-18 are better, but it depands on the memory f it's possibe to do it or not.
Try to enable LLC(Load Line Calbration).

The default MCH reference is 0.76, try 1-3 steps below this value, and then 1-3 steps above, see if you can find a stable point.
CPU Reference default to 0.805 and it is the max so you can test only values below it.
Try this with 475MHz bus clock and CPU ratio 7.5 first, so you don't need to change vcore, and when you have stable settings try CPU ratio 8.

Make a bootable memtest86+ usb drive to test before you start windows.
The test that will most likely fail is test #5, so run until test #6 starts or run test 5 only (press C, 1, 3, 5, enter, 0)
