Hello everyone,
I've built PCs for quite almost a decade. This year, due to the dominance of Intel's Sandy Bridge platform, I switched over from AMD and decided to build myself a new rig:
MOBO: ASRock P67 EXTREME4 GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
HSF: COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus RR-B10-212P-G1 "Heatpipe Direct Contact" Long Life Sleeve 120mm CPU Cooler Compatible Intel ...
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-17000CL9D-8GBXM
HDD: Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
and Graphics Card: HIS IceQ X Turbo X H695QNX2G2M Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card ...
now.. I've got the HSF mounted, arctic silver'd up, 2 ram sticks in slots 2-4 (out of 4), SSD in, and the HIS card installed into PCIE slot one (PCIE2) as recommended by ASROCK.
if I DONT plug the video card power in (2xPCIexpress power) the cpu/case fans come on, there's power, and the mobo will beep 5 times and show code: 6d which I believe is no output console. obv, I have no screen as the mobo doesn't have built in video and i'm having trouble with graphics.
if the card is plugged into any of the PCIE slots, the PC will not power on. I'm not talking about not posting - the power switch becomes inactive as if it was disconnected or the rig had no power.
really stumped.. any ideas ?
tried resetting cmos.
tried different PCIE slots.
tried 1 stick of ram.
checked power connection to MOBO, 24pin and 2x4pin are in tight.
reseated graphics card.
thanks in advance for any assistance.. I have contacted ASRock via email, somewhat frustrated that they don't have a line to call for tech support.. I hope my experience with ASROCK is not a bad one ..
