Z68 Extreme 7 Always Hangs on Restart.

    Z68 Extreme 7 Always Hangs on Restart.

    Just finished my build.

    ASROCK Z68 Extreme 7 Gen3, i7 2600, 16GB GSkill Ram and a new Samsung 256GB SSD for the system drive.

    Here's my issue....the system runs flawlessly but tends to hang during a Restart. Eventually the system will shut down on it's own without ever launching Windows. If I enter the Bios first then do an exit Windows launches fine.

    I'm not sure where the problem is. I'm having a tough time figuring out if it's a Mobo issue, an SSD issu or a problem with my CPU or Ram. Anyone have thoughts?

    Hrm... Looks like I am not the only one having this issue. My board however is an M3A770DE and its an AM3 socket. Might be non-hardware related by the looks of an intel board having the same issue.

      So I tracked down the culprit but I'm still not sure what's behind it.
      I had an External Drive hooked up to transfer files from my old build and when I unplug it my system restarts fine.

      Have to play some more.

        Hrm... Im going to have to unplug my Ipod then :D See if that solves it.

          i had some problems too!!
          if i put the hdd on mode AHCI, the system don't see it...
          and also...the fan system it's not automatic? you have to set the speed and that's all? if the system become hot tha fan didn't go faster??
          got to understand this card...it seems very good but i presume it need a lot of bios improve...

            Did you flash the latest firmware for your SSD? If not I suggest that you do so. What Intel SATA connector are you using for your SSD? If it's a SATA 6 gb/sec SSD then ONLY connect it to one of the 2 SATA-3 ports. Post back you seem a little lost...

              The firmware it's update, since i can't do it while windows it's running, i made it when i bought it and there is no new release!
              it's also connected on the correct SATA3, i'm sure of that...
              The only issue it's that i didn't put on AHCI mode before windows setup...
              it turn that from the last MB(that was an asus p67 LE) i lost 10 second of boot time...

              nothing to worry about...the system now it's really stable and performing using all app, and gaming too!!

              In my opinion Z68 it's a bit less performing that the P67 on 3d performance...
              but not too much...

              now waiting for the second 570 an see how it really work...

                While your waiting for your 2nd 570 to go SLi you might think about wiping the SSD clean and doing a fresh install of windows with AHCI enabled. Because without having AHCI enabled I don't think the native TRIM support of WIN7 will work for your SSD...You might check the OCZ forums on this...
