  • Trying to 'RAM' it in...

    I've got a Phenom Black 955 running on a 790XT-UD4P with 4gb (2X2gb) GSkill DDR3 1600 RAM... no issues for 3 years.

Figured I'd bump it up to (2X4gb) 8gb of the same rated GSkill ($57 at Newegg).

Found a post for running AMD CPU + GSkill DDR3 1600

As suggested... Set CPU Host / Bus Freq. to 240 for 1600 + lowered the CPU ratio to get it back down to 3.4

Set timings to the rated 9-9-9-24

    DRAM voltage = 1.6 (auto)

Booted + showed 8gb... then subsequently 'crashed'.

Was hoping someone has successfully run 8gb on a similar set-up and could provide their settings.

Try to add CPU NB VID Control, gradually, not over 1.35v.
If the memory is rated for 1.5v setting it to 1.6v is not always better.
