  • BIOS backup, how?

    Hi,

Because of a problem with making my m-audio2496 soundcard work on my Asrock Z68Extreme4Gen3 computer, it was advised (by Asrock itself) to update the BIOS. (See this thread here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...roblems-4.html).

I downloaded the suggested (customized) BIOS version (Z68 Extreme7 Gen3(L1.21).zip), but before proceeding, I'd like to make a backup of the current BIOS version (P1.00).

However, I'm not sure how to make a backup of the current BIOS version...

    Any advice?

    Cheers,

    M.T.Pilot

    Re: BIOS backup, how?

Have you checked the motherboard user manual's bios section to see if they tell you how to backup your bios?
You might need to back it up to a drive with a FAT 12/16/32 file system.

All of the released versions of the UEFI for the board are here that you can d/l and have available on USB stick

        ASRock > Products > Motherboard Series Extreme7 Gen3&o=BIOS

All of the BETA versions for the board are here:

        ASRock > Products > Motherboard Series Extreme7 Gen3

No backup required simply reflash the UEFI you want

The Forum software is calcaenating the links so highlight and paste

Your probably thinking of what happens if I corrupt the bios when flashing..if theres a power down at a bad time or whatever .(your backup of the original bios wouldnt be any use to you then as you couldnt flash it in)
Asrock will supply you with a replacement bios chip (for a cost),its not soldered in, so the whole mbrd wont be rendered useless.

Me personally when getting my b2 board exchanged for b3,I kept the original 6 pin chip which should be fine for a replacement if I do corrupt while flashing.
