  • Asrock 970 Extreme3: memory and bus problem after powerup

I've got a similar problem to one described (and remained unsolved) on this forum: ASRock Fatal1ty 990FX Professional ThReAD - Page 4

I'm running Athlon II X4 620 at stock speed 13x200MHz (2600MHz) with pair of Corsair Vengance DDR3-1600 CL9. I've updated UEFI to newest 1.20.

My problem begins after a coldboot: CPU-Z shows my bus speed is set to 190MHz instead of 200Mhz, thus running the CPU at aprox. 2470MHz instead of 2600MHz. Same goes with RAM: it's being pulled from 800Mhz to 633Mhz.
This happens ONLY after powerdown. When I reboot or enter UEFI prior to booting windows the FSB and RAM run at desired speeds of 200MHz and 800MHz.

    What gives?
Does anyone had such a problem before and managed to find a solution?

Ok, seems like I found a partial solution.

I flashed the bios again, reset all options to default, set only DDR latencies (9-9-9-24) and frequency (1600), left everything else untouched.
Now the FSB and RAM run at desired speeds after a coldboot.

The problem comes back, when overclocking the CPU. Will dig into that later on.

Having same issues and is troublesome. I submitted a support request, can only hope they reply. I did order a new power supply, 800w, thinking it might be a power issue.
