890FX Deluxe4 - SSD alone on Marvel controller?

Using Win7 Ult 64 bit fresh install. 890FX Deluxe4.
I have put a new Corsair Force3 GT on the Marvell controller using AHCI in BIOS. Should I avoid putting a HD on this controller using AHCI? Would a HD on the same controller degrade the SSD performance?
I have the Marvell driver installed but under device manager, I do not see anything anywhere mentioning AHCI in use. Also the SSD is preforming about 100Mbs under rated read speed and around 250Mbs under rated write speed. I know I may not achieve rated, but my actual numbers are too low anyway. any info or help is appreciated,,, thanks

I myself am using the 8890FX, but in Deluxe 5 version which is also not recognising in device manager whether ACHI is on or off (I put AHCI on in UEFI/BIOS). ASRock advises NOT to put the boot-disk on Marvell (so not using the Marvell bootable feature in BIOS), but on the AMD SATA's instead. Because of bad e-SATA hotplug performance, which does require the AHCI-mode, I've a bad feeling about this controller and its AHCI/RAID driver. Although I finally found a better, WHQL-driver for this Marvell chipset, e-SATA is still not OK. After visiting a number of forum posts on this chipset, I strongly recommend against using it in time-critical applications (speed always seems lower on Marvell than on AMD-ports, irrespective of the HDD/SSD technology). And getting a boot disk to work properly at all is also reported as difficult

Maybe you should contemplate moving the SSD to the AMD-controller instead, why make your life more difficult than necessary?... :-D on thuis

PS My earlier ASRock Alive Dual e-SATA2 has the JMicron chipset for SATA 3G: this chipset always worked fine, so it was better than Marvell. But even when ASRock later on returns to JMicron-technolgy, we will be stuck with our MB-choice
