It appears the windows xp product key generator only supplies a limited number of product keys. Given this, wouldn't all of the product keys, in short time, become invalid because everyone will have used it more than once perhaps? That is if everyone has used the same keygen from the link Tweaktown has supplied. Can someone please comment on this issue. Thanks.

Yes, in theory. But people seem to be making this key thing bigger than it actually is.
This is becouse so far, it seems, only one key number is really blacklisted (maybe two, three) and that is the original Devils own key which starts FCKGW ...
And it is blacklisted becouse there are millions of users with that key.
There are propably millions of users that have one official key running on multible pc's.
Becouse its fairly easy to get a new key from MS customer service I really don't see reason for MS to go after keys with few users. It would only make more people to trade to Linux.
MS is going after 'cracked' exe's and most known ID's. XP is already best selling windows OS so I'll give 'em kudos for doing pretty good job scaring ppl with pirated copies.

Well, this is only how I see it. So feel free to disagree.

Andy, thanks for replying. That was very informative. I just read the scoop on the blacklisted cd keys. MS has unfortunately blacklisted the devils own cd keys that start with F or D. I still do not know why so many people have the devils own cd keys. And how did they get the winxp cd along with the key 35 days b4 official release?

      Pondering,

Bongoloid, I think the last two sentences of your post answers also to your question about number of people using Devils Own... (hint: 1st to spread reaches most..).
And who gets access to new Microsoft stuff first? Wouldn't that be Microsoft staff ...

        Cheers!

I have long thought that the "pirate" copies of XP were leaks from M$. Piracy actually does serve a purpose on some level. The pirates who have a new product first are generally the more advanced users who then spread the word to their friends and family about it.....if it's a decent product. Piracy is good for M$ on this level because the BEST advertising is word of mouth and it's free.

Big hint of how people got XP early.......WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL........This version works................... Due to dial up and not high speed in my area 4 days later I found out they were telling the truth is when they said it works. But it came with the FCKGW Key.... Also if the version is running good and doing what you need to do and not giving any problems, Why worry about SP1??? Why perj yourself or take a chance when not needed. Sometimes if it aint broke don't fix it is a very good theory to follow:):):)
