Got my 965 DS3, hooked everything up, i keep getting a Boot manager missing when trying to load windows, or it says when trying to copy the files, file is corrupt or missing, ????????. Is this a windows vista disc problem, or cd rom problem ? hard drive problem ?

          Re: Little help

Try booting into the bios with only one memory module installed.
Load Optimized Bios defaults, the save settings and exit.

I won't provide any more assistance until you've added your hardware setup to your forum signature.
Be sure to include brand/model numbers, and include your bios version and motherboard version.

If you're too lazy to provide this information, I'm too busy to waste my time trying to help when we don't know what hardware you have.

Is it possible for you to post a picture of BIOS M.i.T section?

Load optimized defaults as suggested befor and set as follow:
                System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [2.40B]
                System Voltage Control [Manual]
                DDR2 OverVoltage Control [+0.1]

In Advanced BIOS Features set first boot device hard disk, and in Hard Disk Boot Priority set you HD to be first.
To boot from windows installation CD press F12 during post the from boot menu CD ROM.

See how the above work for you.

                    Re: Little help

Well i finally got windows installed, i had to push the f12 and select cdrom to get it to boot off the disc ? i dont know why. During the windows 7 install when it restarts your computer, it would never come back on by itself, i had to clear cmos and reset and hit f12. Im ready for some overclocking guys.

                        Re: Little help

Hope you have a good cooler, otherwise you might need to stick to 2.8-3Ghz or so.

Be sure you are using the latest BIOS. If you need to update use Qflash or DOS. And for your initial issue about the windows CD and your hard drive. You need to set the boot order (1, 2, 3 setting) to CD first, then HHD if you want to boot to CD without using F12. I personally set 1, 2, 3 boot order to HHD, Disabled, Disabled, this speeds up booting, then you can use F12 to boot to CD when needed. Also be sure you go into the Advanced BIOS page at the top and into Hard Disk Boot Priority and move your HDD to the top of that list. If you update your BIOS, load optimized defaults after the update, then save/apply/reboot BACK to the BIOS, and set your SATA settings again. You want to be using AHCI, and have your OS Drive in SATAII_0 (First) and CD/DVD drive in SATAII_5 (last)

Here's settings for 3.4Ghz, your CPU will do this no problem once you find the sweet spot for the voltages

                          Re: Little help

Ok i put my os hard drive in sataii 0, and dvd drive in sataii 5, but when i put in ACHI mode, it says its search for hard drive, and it never loads windows. When i put in ide mode, or raid/ide it loads windows no problem ? what am i doing wrong.

I also followed settings for overclock, i set to 400 fsb for 3.2 on the processor and it booted right up no problem, im going to go higher, and play with voltages and prime 95 it. I have a aftermarket cooler, its not like top of the line, but m much better than stock. Thanks for your help, i will report back.

One other thing, i am using my 160gb raptor hard drive, i thought it went bad, but its ok.

Nice to see you got an overclock going without an hassles!

As for the AHCI thing, after you set AHCI (Or anytime you change that setting really), reboot back to the BIOS, and then go into the Advanced BIOS page, and then into the top setting "Hard Disk Boot Priority" and make sure your OS drive is at the top of that list, if it's not move it to the top Randomly it may work at any setting, depending on the number of drives connected at the time, so IDE/RAID working for you just happen to be lucky that your OS disk was at the top and not another HDD or USB, ect.

Ok got the AHCI working, i have to say this chip and board overclock like a dream, no problems at all. I need to run some prime 95, but it passes super pi 32m no problems for now. I want to know about the memory straps, right now im on 2.00 1:1, which strap gives the best performance ?. Im unable to go up to other straps cause it will put my memory speed to high. I want to get some ddr2 8000 cl4, then i run high speed memory. Thanks very much for your help.
