  • Some advice needed for a complete novice on an i7 920 OC

It's already at 3.40GHz (I inherited it like this) ideally I would like to achieve 4 - 4.4Ghz but won't be attempting just yet as I'm awaiting a new PSU (current installed one is crap & causing system reboots whilst gaming) I have already bought a Noctua NH-D14 & would also consider replacing/adding better case fans if this would help (temps are not too bad at the moment though)

I have read plenty of guides & have a vague understanding of the procedure but am still pretty clueless.. some of the current readings if it helps:

    Cpu Clock Ratio 21x
    BCLK Frequency 162
    CPU Vcore 126250v [1.21250v]
    Extreme Memory Profile - Disabled

Most other settings are auto or standard

    Thanks.

    EDIT:

    Motherboard is a: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R

It's also been suggested to me that my Ram needs to be 1600Mhz in order to safely further overclock (It's 1333) is this true & does it mean that my current ram is pretty useless..?
