    Howdy guys

I have been doing some extensive reading on this on the net regarding the x58 UD5 board. The board has two white ports that utilise the Marvel 9128 chip.
Can I just plug in the SDD in one of those ports or are they designed only for a raid setup?

If I can do I need to install the Marvel Console driver along with the INtel INF installation?

Prior installation just to clarify I need to set ALL ports in the bios to AHCI?

Once my Vertex 2 SSD drives comes back from repair ill just stick that back in the blue ports?
I have also a disk drive and two standard drives to plug in.

Can someone suggest the best ports to connect these in?

    cheers

    Re: ga-x58a-ud5 + Crucial c400 m4 SDD question

yes you can plug into the marvell ports, however the intel ones are considered better and more reliable you would need to test, there was a later marvell controler on later boards that gives near intel sata3 performance but those controllers on that board are earlier and arnt so good

yeah set to ahci then install windows,i think you just install the marvel console driver,if you plug ssd into an intel port install the intel rst driver

I actually ended up with the Corsair Sata 3 ssd due to stock. I just ran a bench with ATTO Disk and got the following, Write maxed out to 232411 and Read 401506. Is that better then the Intel Sata 2 Speeds?

Cool! Is there a more up to date Marvel Console driver than the one offered by gigabte which was made in 2009? Board X58-ud5 Version 2.

I also updated my Bios to the FD version.

          cheers

Here you go. I did a complete bios mod with the latest bios for your board. You did not specify which Rev. board you have 1.0 or 2.0. I assumed it was Rev 2.0. It can be found here http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...fied-bios.html

Make sure you read how to actually update the firmware.
