  • VGA problem with H61?

Okay the problem is whenever I have my geforce 9800 gt plugged in (drivers installed) windows 7 hangs on startup. At first somebody told me it was my PSU since it was lacking 12v amps, so I upgraded my PSU. After that I was still having the issue, somebody else told me that it was an incompatibility with the mobo so I went ahead and bought this one and im still having the issue. Oh and the VGA works on 2 other comps fine too..

    My pc specs are :

    cpu- i3 2100
    mobo- H61M-VS
    RAM- 4gb dd3 gskill
    PSU- Neo Antec 620C

    Any help is appreciated!

It could be the nvidia drivers. Try booting up in safe mode and then reinstall the drivers.

Make sure the primary graphics is set to pci express in the bios. Only other thing I can think of is a problem with the ME or vga driver.

Yeah primary graphics is set to pci-e in bios, idk maybe its drivers conflicting with each other? I can get the logs but im not sure how to interpret them lol.

What is the Nvidia driver version currently installed?
You can download and install the latest correct version for you o/s and video card from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers (Geforce.com).
If you need to install newer Nvidia drivers:
            1. uninstall your current drivers within windows
            2. boot into Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper to clean up any residual Nvidia graphics related software
            3. boot into windows and install the most recent Nvidia driver download

Yeah booting into safe mode works fine, its only hanging at the "Starting windows" screen where the four balls glow and thats after I install the nvidia drivers.

OK, follow the three steps in post #7, running Driver Sweeper might clean things up.

What bios setting are you using for the primary video source when your video card is installed? Pci-e? Integrated video?

It's still hanging after using driver sweeper in safe mode. I clicked all the nvidia related choices and cleaned it. rebooted installed latest nvidia drivers restarted and it hangs. In bios I have it set to pci-e first.

                        Re: VGA problem with H61?

Are there any AMD Radeon graphics drivers still on your system?
Which operating system version are you using?
Try installing an older WHQL Nvidia driver version after uninstalling 296.10 and running Driver Sweeper.
If you let windows find the drivers, it might install a slightly older version.
                        or.....
You can use the search for Beta and Older Drivers on the Nvidia drivers download page.
Choose an older WHQL version and see if this helps.
                        Don't download any Beta versions.

Make sure that your 9800 GT is fully seated in the video slot and that it isn't hanging up on any hardware.
Look closely at the electrical contacts in the card slot to verify that the front and rear of the contacts are evenly seated.
Sometimes the rear video card mounting bracket can prevent a card from fully seating.

Can you test your system with a different Nvidia card?

When I open driver sweeper I do see "AMD Display" but when I try cleaning it theres nothing to clean. Im using Windows 7 Home Edition. The 9800 GT is fully seated into the pci slot, I had a 7200GS laying around and tried popping that in and it boots fine even after installing the drivers. I tried using the 9800GT on my older dell machine and it boots/works fine too..this is all really confusing.

With the primary display set to on-board video and your 9800 GT installed, see if your system will boot into windows.
Be sure to connect your monitor cable to the motherboard video connector.

It sounds like your motherboard is allergic to your 9800 GT, or vice versa
