Buying a new CPU , not on compatible list

So , i want to buy the

Phenom II 975 Black edition however it's not on my motherboards supported CPU list :

ASRock > Products > N68C-S UCC > CPU Support List

So I'm wondering weather it will still work or not , as it's pretty similar to some of the chips on the list

Any help appreciated

When talking about compatibility between a CPU and motherboard, my suggestion is to go with the manufacturer recommendation.

Being on the compatability list meens they have tested the those CPU's with that motherboard to insure that it will work. Just because the CPU you want to buy is "close" to other chips on this list, does not mean it will work.

What you mite find is that it works, just not 100%. Some features of the CPU might not work. It might work for 3 months and crap it. It also might work forever, you just don't know.

My suggestion as stated above is to go with a chip on the list. Otherwise you have thrown all these unknown variables into your build and that's not good.

Edit: Also, choose a new motherboard so you can buy Intel...just sayin.
