  • Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP5 TH and Zalman CNPS20LQ

I recently got my GA-Z77X-UP5 TH all excited and started to build. It was suggested I get the Zalman CNPS20LQ. The board has capacitors right next to the CPU, I don't know if I am doing something wrong but it doesn't look like it will fit although it says it is made for a socket 1155. I have a pic below, I am hoping its just that I don't know what I am doing:

You don't have the heat sink portion assembled. You need to assemble the whole thing before you try to install it. The mount you're looking at will be attached to the other portion of the device and should sit off the board enough to not be a problem. Just go ahead and assemble the whole thing before you try to install it. It's a little bit of a pita to assemble but not too bad, just read the directions.

You were right, the instructions are horrible. Once you get it on it fits fine. Thanks.

My Cpu temps are really high. I have dual fans on it and the pump plugged into sys fan 2. Cpu fan is plugged in as well. The hoses feel hot near the cpu but not near the radiator. This is a i7 3770k I have on there, it got over 105c and I turned it off. Not sure what to do from here.

shouldnt the pump be plugged into cpu fan header? syst 2 fan header will be slower if i remember correctly?

yes also make sure the pump is turned on, if there is a on/off dial or switch. Do you feel any vibration coming from the pump? Sounds like the pump is not running.

Pump wire should go to CPU fan header on motherboard. Radiator fans should but using other fan headers on motherboard. Avoid using Sysfan2 if you can.

You guys are my hero. I have the pump going into CPU fan now. I can hear it sputtering away. Temps idle are around 31c. Awesome.

Glad you got it worked out. I have that cooler on a Z68/2600K system.
