  • MSI and Windows Installer on XP

Okay so this makes me feel pretty stupid. I'm trying to install a program that came as an *.msi file. And for thelife of me I can't do it. If I try through windows explorer I get a DOS prompt error message about the file being to big. If I try the right click method decribed at micrososft I don't get an install option. The runc ommand option listed at microsoft is too damned vague to be used...

Any suggestions? Do I need to install windows installer or did it come automatically in XP pro?

I think you have to be logged on as administrator to have the option to install.

I am logged in as admin, doesn't seem to change things. I tried the command line code listed at microsoft and got an invalid command line parameter error. This is annoying.

Guessing here, but do you need a VB runtime library file in the same directory to make it work?
