  • 3770k with z68 limited overclock

I have a z68x-ud4-b3 motherboard and I'm now running U1C with a 3770k CPU. As a lot of you know there is no vcore control when using ivy and z68. Is there a newer bios out that lets me control vcore? I can get 4.2Ghz out of the CPU but I want more, is voltage control coming?
I am after any info on the current state of this issue, are Gigabyte working on it?
Is there a Gigabyte rep that I can speak to about this issue?

I had a 2600k that I needed to be replace and to now find I have this issue is a bit of a kick in the balls. I would have been better to get a new 2600k.
While the 3770k performs @ 4.3 like a 2600k @4.8 I am after a higher clock to get the most out of this new cpu.
    Any help please?

I believe there are other people with this issue. I need to know if Gigabyte are working on this tho. The whole point of getting the 3770k was that I wouldn't need a new mobo. Other wise I would have gone with 2011..

have you emailed gigabyte directly? usually takes 2-3 days for a reply

only other way would be to buy a cheap z77 ud3h board and sell your old?

Re: 3770k with z68 limited overclock

Gigabyte have been emailed. Buying a z77 really isn't an option, I was happy to split the cost of selling a 2600k and buying a 3770k for what should be a 10% cpu improvement. But when you start buying motherboards that 10% gain isn't worth it. As it stands i'm out of pocket and have no gains due to poor support of Ivy Brige cpus on Gigabytes z68 boards.

See what Gigabyte has to say.
In the mean time, check with local consumer protection agencies and find out what rights you have.
Collect information from the Gigabyte website and print hard copies of marketing information and technical specifications for your hardware.
Don't open a formal consumer protection claim just yet.....wait to see what Gigabyte's response is.

Keep in mind that RMA discussion problems are prohibited in the forum.
You are free to post questions in your thread, but keep things polite.
This is primarily a user to user forum and we are here to help you in any way we can.
I am not employed by Gigabyte or Tweaktown and I will do what I can to help you.

                    **edit**
It's up to you to negotiate a reasonable solution directly with Gigabyte.
PM me if you have any questions that you think might be better off in private.

Great info. Was just having a look at the gigabyte website and there is clearly a case for RMA.

One of the listed features of my mobo is "Ready for next gen intel 22nm cpus".

Also on a compatiblity list where my motherboard is listed it says "By installing the latest BIOS for their 6 series motherboards today, users can be assured they are ready to take advantage of all the performance enhancements tomorrow's technologies have to offer".

Well I look forward to hearing from Gigabyte.

                        Quick questions:
                        1) Can you boot into a traditional (non-UEFI) bios, press CTRL and F1 at the same time to unlock hidden bios settings?
                        2) Is there a more recent beta bios in http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html that might fix the voltage setting problem? At the Gigabyte web page for your z68, Downloads tab?

Ctrl + F1 does nothing. There is 1 newer bios that I know of U1D, but I don't believe it allows voltage controls.

Re: 3770k with z68 limited overclock

Go to the http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...beta-bios.html thread and start on the last page and work your way "backward" one page at a time until you come to the forum post that first announced the availability of this bios version. You should be searching for comments from members who have tried the U1D bios on their z68x-ud4-b3 motherboards to see what they report, both good and bad. Feel free to post your question in that thread too, provide a link to this thread and ask that anyone with good or bad results to post a reply in this thread.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think that you are going to find similar results where some or all bios voltage settings are not working.
Let us know what you learn from your search.
                            Good luck!!

                            **edit**
It might be faster to start on the first page of the thread and use the Search Thread option (just above the first post) within the thread to search for posts using z68x-ud4-b3 or search for U1D.

I already had a skim read of that last and posted up my issue there also. I saw there were lots of people wanting vcore control.
Now that I am on a uefi bios do i go back to using q-flash to update or does it need to be done the same way i went to this UEFI bios?
I have the U1D bios but the autoexec.bat file I have is for the U1C bios so it won't work. I changed the C to a D via notepad and still no luck.
