  • Extreme 3 and kingston 2400 ram

Trying to tune in my ram now. The ASRock Extreme 3 should support RAM up to 2400Mhz but for some reason i cant go above 1800Mhz.
My ram is 2x8 Kingston HyperX Beast (KHX2400C11D3/8GX), i didnt find this particular set in compabilitylist for ASRock, but the 2x4gb 2400Mhz was listed, is this my problem?

    Currently @ 1800-9-9-9-27-1.65v

You haven't stated what CPU and chipset you're using. If you're on Haswell and you've overclocked the CPU then that might be the issue. 1800 shouldn't need more than 1.50V I think by the way (I've got the same memory it seems, with a Z87 Extreme 6 though), 1.65V is really when pushing to 2400 MHz.

      Welcome to the forum.

There are several ASRock Extreme3 motherboard models, which one do you have?
Is your cpu overclocked? If yes, what is your cpu speed?

We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs portion of your
forum profile http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile.php?do=editprofile at the bottom of the
profile page or in your forum signature http://forums.tweaktown.com/profile....=editsignature.
Be sure to include brand names and model numbers.

We can offer faster and more detailed suggestions when we know the complete details.
When you list the information in a post, this means that we have to waste time and effort searching for the information.
Some of us are helping in many threads at the same time, sometimes as many as 20 or more.
If you don't post your detailed hardware list in the PC Specs section or in your forum signature, it makes it much more difficult for us to post suggestions that relate to your specific hardware setup. The chance of errors is greatly reduced when we can quickly check your hardware list.

The forum is about sharing information and you make it much easier for viewers if they can easily see your hardware list and if the solution might apply to their setup.

Re: Extreme 3 and kingston 2400 ram

Yeah I've got the exact same memory. Are you using the XMP profile to configure your memory? Also, you might want to put the memory in slots A2 and B2 instead.

                    6. For optimal compatibility and stability while overclocking memory
frequency, it is recommended to install one memory module on
DDR3_B2 slot or two memory modules on DDR3_A2 and DDR3_
                    B2 slots.

Re: Extreme 3 and kingston 2400 ram

I was not able to load any of the XMP profiles, nor at 1886 manually. I will try to change the memoryslots.
Last time i clocked something it was by moving a jumper on MB of a 486dx2 50 making it a dx2 66 :)
