  • GA-B85-HD3 Higher than 1600mhz memory support?

Hey guys, running a GA-B85-HD3 motherboard with 4770K CPU, could there be a beta bios that would allow higher memory speed than 1600mhz?

    I'm using DDR3 2400mhz, only options are 1333mhz and 1600mhz..

    Any help appreciated.

Can't see any for that board

you would squeeze a few extra MHz if you use bclk overclocking on the cpu,how far you could push things you would need to test but it would raise ram speed above 1600mhz

you might be limited on gigabyte budget boards on ram speed(im guessing it's a budget board?) idk

Yeah it's a budget board, can't see any options to use bclk overclocking. It does allow overclocking but options seem limited. Just want to run CPU at stock but memory at faster speeds. It's rated @ 2400mhz, shame not to utilize it..

it doesn't let you alter cpu/pcie bclk either? only one to ask is stasio but I can't see gigabyte giving too much away as they will want you to buy their super duper clocking boards instead

tbh your not missing much from 1600-2400mhz,

Yeap, seems like i'll be just pessimistically echoing your words wazza. As Intel will microcode their Haswell to OC only on z87 platform, budget board ability is pretty much, mercilessly crippled.

            It's the limited B85 chipset,nothing with BIOS or MicroCode,guys.

Ah that's good to know. Yeah this system is just a budget setup to run at stock. I only went with the 4770K as got a great deal on the price, I was originally looking at the Xeon 1230 'V3'.

Higher memory speed would of been nice but if it's a hardware limit that's ok, I wouldn't wanna spend more on another board just for that. Apart the memory, this board is ideal for my needs. Very nice mobo for the money . Only buy Gigabyte motherboards now. Really impressed with build quality / features, even on the budget boards.
