  • Updating BIOS OROMs on my GA-X79-UP4

    Hi folks,

I'm here to request some help or advice regarding the options available when updating OROMs. I have done some probing into my current BIOS (F3P) with Aptio MMTool, below is what I found:

Can you help me verify the versions please? Or tell me how I can do this myself?

    Marvel 88SE91xx Adapter - BIOS Version .1.0.1.0025 - 1b4b,9192
    Appears current

    Intel (R) RAID for SATA - v10.0.0.1032 - 8086,282a
Probably Intel RST RAID ROM? Possibly superseded by v11.2.0.1527?

    Intel LAN ROM v1.3.72.IBA GE Slot 0000 v1372 - 8086,1502
Probably Intel LAN ROM? Possibly superseded by v1.5.13?

    Intel RST(e) RAID for SATA - v11.6.0.1702 - 8086,2822
    Superseded by v12.6.0.1867

    Intel RSTe RAID ROM - v3.5.0.1005 - 8086,
    Superseded by v3.6.0.1023

    Thanks all.

    Hi,

8086,282a can be deleted cause it's useless... you can read lastest ROM in my X79-UP4 F3u mod... and Stasio maintains a great thread with drivers and ROM updated.

    Have fun with modding

      Thanks,

Well your modified bios certainly looks to be the way forward! Do you happen to know if I can update the Intel Management Engine Firmware? To IntelĀ® Management Engine Interface(MEI) 9.0.13.1402 (Firmware) for example?

Intel ME Firmware 9**** is only for 8 series (Z87), ME firmware 8.1.40.1416 is for 7 series (X79, Z77...) : How to .

Re: Updating BIOS OROMs on my GA-X79-UP4

          Thanks virtualfred,

I forgot to ask you, what about the GBE update and MEI in your bios? With the GBE do I have to edit the OROM for my MAC ID?

As I understand it the Gigabyte flasher won't write these regions of the bios. What is the recommended procedure for flashing? Since I need current MEI drivers also, is that the 8.x series or 9.x, does it have to correspond to the F/W version?

Re: Updating BIOS OROMs on my GA-X79-UP4

You have to follow Amurtigress's How to to update GBe with MAC adress insertion... after this you'll can apply ME firmware update.
Yes you can use Management Engine Interface 9.5.10.* with ME firmware 8.1.40.1416.
