ASROCK 990X Extreme3 AMD FX 8350 - UNSTABLE....HELP?

This is my whole system
CPU-Z Validator 3.1

I have everything on normal settings. i just upgraded from a Quad core to the 8350. It seems that the 8 core is a bit laggish.

whats going on and I JUST upgraded to this ASROCK motherboard you would think i would get better performance than a STANDARD Gigabyte board. please help.

More info would be good. What is your system doing that's unstable? Also it looks like you have 3 sticks of RAM in the machine, take the 2GB stick out as it doesn't match the rest of the sticks.

I second scorpian007, that extra stick of RAM isn't good. It might not be your problem but you definitely want to take it out to eliminate it as a possiblity. The rule of thumb is to have all identical sticks otherwise the board will take everything down to the lowest speed to to try to make it compatible and that can cause problems. Also, it's always best to put them in in pairs if you can so you can run them in dual channel. You can put in a single stick and be OK, but it's never advisable to run three. Basically run one, two or four.

Also, make sure that you're not using X-Boost to start with (until you get a basic system load) and double check to make sure you aren't using Fast Boot or Ultra Fast boot options if you haven't done everything to configure those yet.

I just bought those memory sticks for my computer anyway but I did remove the sticks like you said. It just seems performance wise my quad core did more than the 8 core.

I don't see much yet HOWEVER I will keep you guys up-to-date.

There isn't really one particular set of settings for a processor with a board. Most boards have some easy to use utilities for certain overclock presets but you largely have to toy around with it. I don't really OC my hardware so I'm by no means an expert but I can say the presets from the UEFI/BIOS or utility are probably safer than just adjusting the values without any self education. I'm going through that learning curve myself.
