• USB 2.0 + firewire combo card?

Anyone know if there is such a thing as a USB 2.0 AND Firewire PCI card in-one? I'm looking to get a nice HD MP3 player, but USB 1.1 aint gonna cut it. Now I just gotta figger out which one, Ipod, new Archos...

That's why I'm hopeing for all-in-one, cause I dunno what interface I'm gonna use, and I have only 1 pci slot left (I think... (sound card, lan card, wifi card, modem, agp card... hmm maybe 2..))...

I never heard of such a thing considering they are two totally different standards. Also what is a wifi card?

Hey thanks! But $97 smackers is alot, yikes. Maybe I can get one cheaper through work.

Oh, wifi is the wireless networking standard that is all the rage these days (802.1b or sumthing like that..). Just like firewire is IE 1334 or sumthin...

yeah I agree with PGA on this one, decide what mp3 plaer yu are going to get....and then get the card to go with the player. Personally I would go with the ipod...they are sweet!:thumb:

sound card, lan card, wifi card, modem, agp card
why lan and wifi??? wouldnt it make sense to get rid of the lan (NIC) card since you're using wifi??? also look into geting real modem instead of a winmodem, or even a cable if they have it in your area.
also you could get a soundcard w/ built in firewire (btw its IEEE1394) i think SB audigy has it.
                hope this helps

That sounds like a lot of money for you guys as we can get this with 3 x USB2.0/1.1, 2 x Firewire external, 1 USB2.0/1.1 internal and 1 Firewire 6-4pin cable included for around $100aus. There must be a better deal there as we generally pay double to you ppl. :?:

Cause this is the family comp, and not my personal rig. We used to have it directly connected to our router, but we moved it, so I stuck in the wireless card. So the LAN is just there if i need it later, and same for the modem. The modem is just backup for before we got the dsl installed and for when it goes out (hey, it happens...).. and real modems are spensive! And it allready has a SB live, so upgrading to a Audigy aint worth it (i do have one in my rig tho...)

Now if that comp was the one I used everyday, it'd be different.. (first thing i'd do would get rid of that horrbile tnt2... ewwwww)
