  • new motherboard asrock h61m vg3 pci express not working

hi. i have an i5 2500k and tihs motherboard.

when i install my old geforce 9500gt it is runnig the fan but no display. the only thing that works is the onboard gpu. i have everything in the bios from primary pci express but it stills only works with the onboard.

and i can't change in the bios the cpu fan.

will the motherboard be dead? everythings worked exept the geforce 9500gt

or wil the 9500gt wil be broken?

because i looked at google and more people have issuis with this board and pci?

    Welcome to the forum.

Turn off your system, unplug your power supply cable from the wall outlet and remove the video card from the motherboard.
Inspect the video card's electrical contacts and the motherboard's pci-e slot for signs of dirt and/or damage.

Can you test your 9500GT video card in another system to be sure that it works?
Can you borrow a different video card to test in your system?

A brand new motherboard might be defective.
Your old video card might be defective.
This is why I suggested these two tests:
        1. Turn off your system, unplug your power supply cable from the wall outlet and remove the video card from the motherboard.
        2. Inspect the video card's electrical contacts and the motherboard's pci-e slot for signs of dirt and/or damage.

        ....he takes the onboard gpu....
I assume that this means that your on-board video is working and this means that your monitor and monitor cable are OK.

Did you connect the video cable to the video card when you wanted to use the video card?
Have you set the default video device in your bios to use the video card instead of using the on-board video?

note: The spinning cooling fan on your video card does NOT mean that your video card is working.

yes all contacts are fine the pci express port no damage or any kind of dirt. the geforce 9500gt smells a little little little bit fire.
yes i turned on pci express in stead of onboard. i put the cable in the gpu then. but i wil only get display with the onboard vga port. even with primarie pci expres first on. but the cable in the gpu doesent give any since of display.

it only works when i put the vga cable onboard even if i installed in the bios pci express first. so this means motherboard cant find a gpu even the fans are spinning thats the reason that only onboard vga port works even is primarie pci express?

am i rigt. if the gpu might be borken he automaticly switch from primarie pci express to onboard?

Yes, I think that your video card is defective and that the motherboard can't detect your 9500GT.
Can you borrow a pci-e video card to test with?
If the borrowed card works in your system, this will confirm that your 9500GT is at fault.

There have been quite a few video card incompatibilities in this forum, but most of these problems are with high end video cards and the problem is often fixed when ASRock releases a newer motherboard bios. I haven't seen many cases where a working older video card has problems in newer systems.
