Re: asrock extreme 4 z77, issue with ram slots

Is your memory kit listed in the ASRock memory support list for your motherboard?
Is your memory installed in the correct memory slots?
Using memory that isn't in the support list or the memory manufacturer's compatibility list often won't work.

We need detailed information about ALL OF THE HARDWARE in your system.

We can best help you after you create a detailed hardware list in the System Specs

Re: asrock extreme 4 z77, issue with ram slots

You haven't posted the full model name/number of your memory.
Is the memory model's name/number listed in the ASRock memory support list? In the Kingston compatibility list.
Is your motherboard brand new? Used?

Look at pages 13 and 20 in your motherboard user manual where they say:
        1. If you want to install two memory modules, for optimal compatibility and reliability, it is recommended to install them in the slots: DDR3_A1 and DDR3_B1, or DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2.
        2. If only one memory module or three memory modules are installed in the DDR3 DIMM slots on this motherboard, it is unable to activate Dual Channel Memory Technology.
        3. If a pair of memory modules is NOT installed in the same Dual Channel, for example, installing a pair of memory modules in DDR3_A1 and DDR3_A2, it is unable to activate Dual Channel Memory Technology.
        4. It is not allowed to install a DDR or DDR2 memory module into DDR3 slot; otherwise, this motherboard and DIMM may be damaged.
        5. Some DDR3 1GB double-sided DIMMs with 16 chips may not work on this motherboard. It is not recommended to install them on this motherboard.
        6. For optimal compatibility and stability while overclocking memory frequency, it is recommended to install one memory module on DDR3_B2 slot or two memory modules on DDR3_A2 and DDR3_B2 slots.

I can't help you any further until you post your full detailed hardware specifications in your PC Specs or in your signature.

Re: asrock extreme 4 z77, issue with ram slots

I checked ASRock > Z77 Extreme4 - Memory Support List and your specific memory kit is not listed.

Have you tried booting with only one memory module installed in the DDR3_A1 or DDR3_A2 memory slots?

Do you know how to capture an image of your installed memory's specifications to a flash drive using F12 when you are in the bios/UEFI?

I repeat, did you buy a USED motherboard?

Posting your hardware information in one post is not good enough.
When you post it using the forums PC Specs option or in the forum signature, the information is immediately available in all of your posts.
Did you try clicking on either of the bold/underlined links in my first post?

Re: asrock extreme 4 z77, issue with ram slots

Turn the PC off, take out all memory sticks, then only install one stick of memory in DDR3_A1. Repeat the process for slot DDR3_A2. If everything works then you may consider testing each stick of memory by itself.

UPDATE, after doing as you said i found out that each individual ram worked in all slots, and after reading the manual ive tried putting one of them in 1a and the other in 1b and they now run dual! yaha!

If you've made no other changes to BIOS settings, boot config, hardware, etc. and the issue is back, then it may be a BIOS issue. What BIOS version do you have? The latest is 2.90.

Only thing I can suggest is to go back through the steps that worked previously and see if what worked previously will work again. It's very strange that the problem would return when no changes were made to any of the related configuration.
