    Newbie question

    Just got a asrock ion 3d 152d.
Installed win 7 pro 64 bit on it.
Ran the install CD and installed everything...then spent 2 days on windows updates.

    All looking great.
But I can't get any life out of the remote in media centre or kodi.

Remote appears to be working.. red light when I press a button.
But tried that ShowKey utility as recommended on a kodi wiki page.. its supposed to show what key presses are generated by the remote...

    But nothing shows.
Control panel says IR device is working and drivers appear ok.

Read somewhere else that the Nuvoton don't work...

    Anybody able to help?
    Thanks
    Vida

PS, where is the IR receiver eye located on the case?

is there an IR receiver connected to the IR header of the mobo, as shown here in the manual:

If yes, just follow the cable to the other end and you will find the IR eye of the case.

Great, thanks, I'll try get a look at it tonight and see where its at.
Can't imagine there wouldn't be something connected to it when a remote shipped with the rest of it.

Kinda strange its not working as the rest of the machine is rocking.
Really impressed with the performance of such a low spec'd machine.

Still wonderin bout drivers etc.. gave up last night.. all googled out... heh

      Thanks again.

        yee haw..

Well, sometimes the problems are more basic than drivers !!

Opened the case as you suggested.
Found the header and there was indeed something connected to it.
I could see some wires leading out through the metal casing .. so I eased off the front panel.
The IR reciever was there behind the grille that allows air come into the case.
AND it was covered with fluff and dust.

I kept thinking nahh it couldn't be THAT simple could it??

So, anyway, cleaned it all out, reassembled the case, turned it on, fired up media centre and lo and behold I now have a working remote!

Thanks SandsOfTime for suggesting I look for the receiver !!
