  • Problem with PCIe slot and Graphic card

I have an eVGA geforce 8400GS 512MB DDR3 card, and it will just not operate on my mb.
I figured out that these cards have only PCIe 2.0 and 1.1 support, while my motherboard has a PCIe 1.0a slot.
Is it possible to make the card work in 1.0a mode?

Re: Problem with PCIe slot and Graphic card

The information I found said in general PCIe 2.0 video cards will work in a PCIe 1.0a slot on a mother board. You will need at least a 350W power supply with 18 Amps on the +12V rail.

Your mother board's information states if you are using the onboard graphics, before installing a video card and its driver, you must uninstall the onboard graphics driver.

Also, your board's BIOS will have an option to select the onboard graphics or a video card. Did you select the video card option in the BIOS?

If you have a monitor connected to the onboard graphics outputs, the board may not change to the video card. Be sure to remove any video cables from the onboard graphics outputs when trying to use a video card.
